How many Kindle models are there?

Can I buy the Kindle from a store?

Yes. However buying your Kindle from Amazon means that you enjoy low-cost factory-direct prices – no middle man, lower overheads. Amazon also offers used and refurbished models at even lower costs! 

What is the battery life?

The battery life for the Kindle after charging can last up to one month, or two weeks with the wireless constantly switched on.

How do I charge the battery outside of the US?

Kindle always ships with a Kindle micro-USB cable that allows you to charge Kindle from a computer. To some countries, Kindle also ships with a U.S. power adapter. Power adapters for other countries are also available (includes UK and Australia) and can be added to your Kindle order at the time of purchase or bought separately.

What is e-ink Pearl?

E-ink Pearl is a second generation, enhanced display, providing 50% higher contrast for the clearest text and sharpest images. E-ink Pearl is used by all the latest Kindle devices: the Kindle Wifi, Kindle 3G+Wifi and the Kindle DX.

Can the Kindle read foreign languages?

The Kindle can read e-books in foreign languages. These books can also be purchased at Amazon.

Can I read the Kindle in low light or darkness?

The Kindle screen is not back-lit as it uses the e-ink pearl technology to simulate paper. Like a book, you will need a reading light to read the Kindle in low light or darkness.

How good is the Kindle 3G coverage?

Can I lend my e-books with other Kindle owners?

Eligible Kindle books can be loaned once for a period of 14 days. The borrower does not need to own a Kindle – Kindle books can also be read using free Kindle reading applications for PC, Mac, iPad, iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android devices. Not all books are lendable – it is up to the publisher or rights holder to determine which titles are eligible for lending.

Can I share content with other Kindles?

You can enjoy your Kindle content on Kindle devices or Kindle applications that are registered to your Amazon.com account. There may be limits on the number of devices (usually six) that can simultaneously use a single book. Subscriptions to newspapers or periodicals cannot be shared on multiple devices.

Can I read PDF’s on the Kindle?

The Kindle comes with an enhanced PDF reader with dictionary lookup, notes and highlights. All PDF’s are read on the Kindle in the original, native format as they would appear on the computer.

Is Kindle covered by warranty?

Kindle comes with a standard one year limited warranty. Amazon also offers an optional 2-year Extended Warranty. The 2-Year Extended Warranty adds an additional year and more comprehensive protection, including coverage for accidental drops and damage (limited to one incident).

How long will it take to ship the Kindle?

Shipping of the Kindle is free and fast, when purchased from Amazon. Shipping takes usually within a week to all major international cities. Allow for additional days if you leave outside of city centres.
